3. Understand Books

A "Book" is a section of the site that's set up hierarchically. Basically, it's like a real book -- with a cover and pages within. Unlike a blog, the pages in your book are static -- they're not tied to a date, they don't move down the site when new entries are added, and are easily accessible from your Book menu on the site front page.

Each person can create web pages and add them to their personal Book. Then, when you click on that person's name, you can read the pages of their Book.

Blog or Book?

  • Make a Blog entry when you want to:
    • Recount something that happened in your life ("Today I quit smoking")
    • Jot down a quick opinion on a current event ("Stupid government!")
  • Make a Book Page when you want to:
    • Have a page that tells about yourself ("About Me")
    • Have a page about something you really love ("Star Wars Rocks!")
    • Post a short story you wrote
    • Post a set of links to things you think are really cool ("Star Wars Rocks!")
