Adding an entry is super easy.
After you log into the site, there will be several links under your name. One of these is "Create content." Click on it.
A submenu opens up, and the top item is "Blog entry." (Others are Book page, Page, and Story, but we'll discuss those elsewhere.)
Click on "Blog entry" and a set of boxes will open up, including Title and Body.
Put the title of your post in the Title box, and then use the Body box to write (or paste in from a text editor) your entry.
Click "Save" at the bottom, and you're done!
It's that easy.
Next, I'll tell you how to add pictures to your text, which is a bit more convoluted.
