I, personaly would like to thank the American people for being shortsighted, knee-jerk sheeple. Or, more accurately, lemmings. Yes, through obfuscation and outright lies, movement conservatism has once again convinced a majority of the poor, working-class slobs to walk off a cliff by voting republican.
The most ridiculous thing is that people have this strange idea, with no real merit, that the GOP wants them to be happy and have jobs. I guess their goals of lowering taxes for the richest people in America (which have dropped by 50% over the last 30 years -- thank you Mr. Ronald "I Hate Black People and Gays" Reagan for starting this), fighting unions, and their repeated attempts to destroy the Social Security and welfare safety net that protects the working class from destitution are somehow appealing to the lower middle class.
Oddly, these are the very conditions that allowed them and their parents to be so successful in the 1950's and 60's. But who really cares about financial security when you have the opportunity to "send a clear message to the President"? I expect that this is how the message would go if it were actually written by GOP voters:
Dear Mr. President,
I am very unhappy that you won't use the government's power to 'fix' the economy and give more people jobs.
I mean, the government uses too much power to control companies -- we should let them do whatever they want and focus on providing the CEOs the largest compensation package they can get. That would get me a job, wouldn't it?
I also can't believe that you bailed out the banks! I mean, I know that this was proposed and put through while GW was president, but I'm sure it's your fault. If only the government had exercised more control over the industry, the housing bubble wouldn't have burst.
I mean, the government should keep their hands out of the housing market and let the loan companies do what they want.
I mean . . . well, I blame you.
And the taxes! I can't believe you want to let GW's tax decreases for the wealthiest 1% of Americans lapse! How can you?!? I mean, I know it would only put them back where they were, but I can't stomach the idea that you would 'redistribute the wealth' of their taxes into programs like Social Security and Unemployment Insurance. What the hell? Don't you think these folks should be able to own a third home? I can't afford my mortgage, and her you want to deprive them?
And healthcare! What a debacle! I will never understand how you let Congress turn your 20-page plan into a 400-page monstrosity! You have complete and utter control over what Congress does, don't you?
I don't care that it provides tax reductions for small businesses.
I don't care that it guarantees health insurance to millions upon millions of Americans who would not otherwise have it.
I don't care that it furthers the goals of FDR, Truman, and Nixon.
I don't care that it would never force me to accept insurance I don't want, change my insurance, or stop me from giving 15% of my hard-earned cash to insurance companies whose goal is to reduce payouts in order to improve the bottom line.
You are obviously a bad president.
Sincerely, Mr. and Mrs. Sheeple D. Lemming
So thanks to all you voters who have committed us to two more years of deadlock and zero progress. And I can't wait until the next election when you once again blame the president for no progress when it was your efforts to kneecap him that prevented it.
Oh, and don't get me started on the retarded Tea 'Party' and the religious right. . . .
